The origins of the city are connected to the Benedictine monastery
which was established in 1101. The city offers a whole range
of attractions, such as Basilica of St. Prokop, The City Tower and
especially the preserved Jewish Quarter, which comprises of 123
houses, narrow streets, public passages and two synagogues.
It is regestered in UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage List.A beautiful
Renaissance chateau of Telc was built in 16th century. The historic
centre of the town with Renaissance and Baroque burghers’ houses
was entered in the UNESCO Heritage List in 1992.
